Storefront Stories

Jun 4 / News / Uncategorized

Behind every storefront, there’s a story.

Think about the local shops and restaurants you’ve missed most – the places and people that have become part of your life. Like the barista who knows you by name. The restaurant where you celebrate every family birthday. The boutique owner who always has time to chat and give treats to your dog. These businesses are what make Legacy feel like home, and the sense of connection they bring feels more valuable than ever.

Now, as they reopen their doors, we’re highlighting some of our neighbors through a new series, #storefrontstories. Through photos and five-minute interviews, we’re showcasing and celebrating the people behind the businesses you love, who have persevered through uncertain times and continue to make Legacy Place so special.

Watch the stories unfold on Instagram and get excited to return to your favorites. Want to see a certain business featured? Let us know!

Carhartt

Ben Ellison, Store Manager

Q: What do you love most about your work and being part of the Legacy Place community?
A: Engaging with our consumers and helping to provide the best gear to protect the hardworking men and women of our community.

Q: What is one positive thing that came out of the shutdown?
A: Our company has grown closer from coast to coast, and our store team has showcased inspirational levels of resilience, dedication, and creativity throughout these uncertain times.

Q: What are you most excited to do now that you are back?
A: We are most excited to be interacting with our consumers and reconnecting with our team.

Q: What’s one interesting fact about your business that you want customers to know?
A: Carhartt was founded by Hamilton Carhartt in 1889 and over 130 years later the company is still a family-owned business.

CASPER

Richard Buckley, Store Manager

Q: What do you love most about your work and being part of the Legacy Place community?
A: I love product testing. Best job and company ever. I appreciate Casper’s thoughtfulness when it comes to the safety of our staff and customers. People first, profit second. Legacy feels like it has a little bit of everything for everyone! #casper

Q: What is one positive thing that came out of the shutdown?
A: I realized I can never retire. I was under the delusion that once I retired I would have all the time in the world to do crafts and hobbies and enjoy the quiet time. Wrong. I bought several 1000-piece puzzles from Henry Bear and craft supplies from Paper Source. Three months later they are still in the bags. I did end up ordering stretch jeans from H&M. #dadbodisheretostay

Q: What are you most excited to do now that you are back?
A: I cannot wait to sip a martini and dig into something drenched in butter at the bar of Aquitaine, get nachos from Yard House, and  pizza from Whole Foods.

Q: What’s one interesting fact about your business that you want  customers to know?
A: Sleep is a superpower that charges everything we do. I recently got a tour of our Research  + Development offices in San Francisco. The videos online are all the people in R+D–they are exactly what they appear to be. It is the quietest, calmest, and most creative spot I’ve ever been. We are one of the only companies that does human testing of mattresses in the U.S. (where do I sign up for that job?). Sleep for a living? Yes, please.

HENRY BEAR’S PARK

Cheryl Lopes, Store Manager

Q: What do you love most about your work and being part of the Legacy Place community?
A: Seeing the joy on kids’ faces when they enter our store!

Q: What is one positive thing that came out of the shutdown?
A: Our Henry Bear’s Park team worked together to come up with new ideas to expand our online shopping options. The best one was our It Takes a Village campaign. It is very fulfilling to know that you are taking part in putting a toy in the hands of a child whose whole world may have been turned upside down due to the pandemic.

Q: What are you most excited to do once you’re back/ now that you are back?
A: I am most excited to see all of our employees back again!

Q: What’s one interesting fact about you or your business that you want your customers to know?
A: Toys are not just for kids! Don’t pass us by as just a kids’ store!  We have something for kids of all ages!

LULULEMON

Q: What do you love most about your work and being part of the Legacy Place community?
A: We love being part of Legacy Place because it feels like so much more than a plaza or a community; it is our home!

Q: What is one positive thing that came out of the shutdown?
A: The store closure allowed our staff to deepen their development work and come back stronger.

Q: What are you most excited to do once you’re back/ now that you are back?
A: We are so excited to invite everyone into our store again; we are looking forward to connection, laughter, and learning.

Q: What’s one interesting fact about you or your business that you want your customers to know?
A: During store closure, lululemon made it their top priority to take care of their people, and we are all so thankful for the support this company provides for us. For specifics, guests can check out our resources and commitments on the lululemon website.

VINEYARD VINES

Q: What do you love most about your work and being part of the Legacy Place community?
A: We love the atmosphere, the fun vibe we get everytime we walk into the store, our amazing customers, and our great team!  If it weren’t for all this, none of us would have stayed for so long.  There a few members who have been here since the beginning of this location in 2013.  We all share the same values as the company, and most importantly, we not only all have a passion for the vineyard vines brand, but we all share our value of teamwork, fun and integrity.

Q: What is one positive thing that came out of the shutdown?
A: One good thing that came out of this was all we got to work closer and saw a creative side come out in everyone. Almost everyday while the stores were closed, we were on Zoom calls together and we challenged each other with ways to stay connected with our customers. We took “lemons” and made “lemonade” out of the situation 🙂

Q: What are you most excited to do once you’re back/ now that you are back?
A: We are most excited to see our customers.  Although we are all in masks, we can still see a smile …it’s in the eyes!

Q: What’s one interesting fact about you or your business that you want your customers to know?
A: One interesting fact about our company is that we recently celebrated our 22 year anniversary.  We started off in the vineyard July 3, 1998 and now we have expanded to over 100 stores nationwide!
